This apartment with sweeping views of Manhattan and wraparound terraces are designed to maximize are planted with native perennials planted for their beauty and attractiveness to important pollinators that live in and migrate through New York City. The weather on this exposed rooftop means that the plants chosen have to withstand extreme conditions including strong winds and long sunny days, much like the plants on beaches. In addition to the long terraces an inner courtyard is a protected tranquil garden surrounded with trellised walls onto which roses and clematis climb and mingle with the scents of lavender. Birch trees, pines and ilex create a natural enclosure into which one may retreat and find privacy.
